Hey, honey! Today I’m featuring a wonderful stamp set from SugarPea Designs. The SPD Hey Honey stamp set is a fun card for summer and offers an adorable bear along with some bees.
For this quasi-single layer card I began by stamping the bear and the hive onto masking paper. I stamped on Neenah Solar White 110# and applied the mask. Using Ranger blending tools, I inked using Catherine Pooler inks in Melon Ice, Garden Party, and Lime Rickey. I then used the SPD Honeycomb stencil to apply more ink sporadically on the background.
Next, I removed the masks and used Copics to color the bear and the hive (bear: E57, E55, E53, E51, E41, E42, T7, T5, T3, hive: Y26, Y06, Y13, leaves: TG25, YG23, YG21)
On some scrap Neenah cardstock I stamped several bees from the stamp set and cut out. I used Gina K Wild Dandelion cardstock and die cut several sizes of hexagons using the SPD Stacked Honeycomb dies.
I assembled the card and added some finishing touches–Glossy Accents on the bear’s nose, and Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pen in Midas Touch. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but that gold shimmer pen really punches up yellow cardstock.
