Mama Elephant – Oh Puppy Tree

I love dogs!!! Last year, I did the Oh Kitty Tree and I was drooling this year when Mama Elephant released Oh Puppy Tree stamp set, so I had to make a couple. This perhaps isn’t the card you can easily mass produce, but I know I wanted more than one and the clock is a tickin’ to get my cards in the mail.

I kept it simple and colored the dogs the same for each card. Color one hat and then go to the next and color that hat, and so on. I’d love to do a monochromatic tree with just colored accessories. Soon maybe.

The dogs were colored with Copic markers. Which ones? It would probably be faster to list which ones I didn’t use. 🤪

After coloring, I used the coordinating Oh Puppy Tree Creative Cuts to cut out the dogs and on separate panels I ink blended using Distress Oxide Inks. Card no. 1: Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, and Cracked Pistachio. Card no. 2: Abandoned Coral, Dried Marigold, and Tattered Rose.

After inking the backgrounds I used the heat tool to dry them a bit and then used the largest postage stamp die from SugarPea Designs – Postage Stamp die set to cut out the panels. I then watered down some white gouache and flicked the paint onto the backgrounds (and desk, and walls). Meh. Gouache is water-based, so it came right up.

I heat set the sentiment on black cardstock and PTI’s Berry Sorbet (one of my most favorite colors of cardstock!). I adhered the background to white card bases and popped up the puppies and sentiments using Thin 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives. I embellished with Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
