Welcome crafters to the first day of the Pretty Pink Posh June 2020 blog hop and giveaway! This is a 2-day blog hop, so be sure to check out the designers from today’s post as well as tomorrows. You probably landed here from the talented Ardyth Percy- Robb‘s blog. If not, be sure to check her out and links for the next stops are at the bottom of this post.
This release is all about the jungle! Such fun animals, scenes, dies, stencils, and one of my favorites this month is the Simple Sentiments stamp set.
For my first of two cards on this hop, I created a slimline card using several products from the new release: Jungle Friends stamp set and coordinating dies, Jungle Additions stamp set and coordinating dies, and the Jungle Background stencil.
To begin, I cut down a panel of white cardstock for a slimline card and then I cut a long strip of masking paper, so I could differentiate the sky from the ground. First, applied the ground mask and then inked the sky using Distress Oxide Inks in Barn Door, Rusty Hinge, and Wild Honey. Before inking fully, I applied the Jungle Background stencil to the sky and inked some more resulting in a lightly stenciled background. I removed the ground mask and applied the opposite side of the mask to the sky so I could ink the ground using Frayed Burlap and Scattered Straw.
Next, I stamped and colored a bunch of critter and plant stamps from both the Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions stamp sets and cut out with their coordinating dies. Next I colored them with Copic Markers.
- Turtle: E08, YR27, E57, E55, E53, YG67, G14, YG23, YG00
- Elephant: C3, C1, C0, C00
- Hippo: BV20, BV23, T0, T1, BV000
- Giraffe: E30, E31, E33, E44, Y35
Next, I put the background in the MISTI to stamp the sentiment and then adhered the die cut stamps onto background. I then finished up the card by adhering the background to a white card base.
Layered Leaves & Flowers Stencil (3-Stencils)
For my next card, I was pretty excited to use the Layered Leaves & Flowers Stencil pack. For this card I used a combination of ink and two different embossing powders.
To begin, I cut down a panel of PaperTrey Ink cardstock in Pale Peony to 6″ x 6″ and adhered the first stencil of three (the leaves) to panel. This one is the most delicate, so I did us a tack spray on the back. On the panel I used a sponge dauber to ink using The Stamp Market ink in Emerald Isle.
Next, I powdered the heck out of that background and taped the second of three stencils to the panel. I knew I was embossing, so I didn’t use any tacky spray on the second stencil as it would likely catch the embossing powder). I grabbed another dauber and applied Versamark ink to the flowers stencil, lifted the stencil and heat embossed with Nuvo Embossing Powder in Ballerina Pink.
For the third and final layer, I again powdered the heck out of the panel and adhered the third stencil to the panel and applied Versamark Ink before heat embossing with Nuvo Embossing Powder in Mulberry.
To finish the card I first cut down the panel to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and adhered it to a white card base. On white cardstock I stamped several sentiments from the Simple Sentiments stamp set with the same Emerald Isle ink and adhered them to the card using thin foam tape (yes tape! I found thin foam tape! Woot! (CTMH)).
There are four $25 gift certificates up for grabs (two winners each day). Winners are chosen at random along the blog hop. Comments must be left by 11:59 PM PST on June 24, 2020. Winners will be announced on the PPP blog.
