Simon Says Stamp – Holly Jolly Release

Good morning, crafters! Today is the day for Simon Says Stamp’s Holly Jolly Release and I’ve made a card using one of the many exciting products. The new Outline Merry Christmas Background stamp is pretty versatile. I chose to color mine, but you can also ink blend, watercolor, and more.

To begin, I stamped onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ 80# white cardstock and then colored bits of the background image with Copic Markers:

  • YG67, YG17, YG25, YG21
  • G29, G9, G5, G2, G00
  • R39, R29, R24, R22
  • BG49, BG45, BG11
  • C7, C5, C3, C1, C0, 0

After coloring the letters, I used cool gray copics to shadow parts of the background to give the image more dimension. When finished, I used 2 dies to create a mat using Waffle Flower A2 Layers and Waffle Flower Additional A2 Layers die sets. on the colored panel so I could have a frame. I chose Concord & 9th Poppy colored cardstock behind the panel pieces. Lastly, I adhered the panel to a white card base.

    1. Hi Pat,
I don’t have a video, I’m sorry. Essentially, for the letters you just pick about 4 shades of a color from very dark to very light. Color the whole letter in the lightest and then in the areas that would be shadowed by light, use your darker markers for the shadows.
To give it more dimension you work outside of the letters with dark to light grays and that bumps up dimension even more. Good luck!
