My Favorite Things – Merry & Bright

Good morning, crafters! Today, I’m sharing a card I made from the September My Favorite Things Merry & Bright Card Kit. The kit is not longer available, but the products I used from it are as they’re sold separately.

September 2020 MFT Merry & Bright Card Kit

From this kit, I used the Merry & Bright stamp set and the Christmas Lights Die-namics. To begin, I ink blended on to a panel of white cardstock using Distress Oxide Inks in Shabby Shutters, Rustic Wilderness, and Black Soot. I then used light gold and white acrylic inks to flick the ink onto the background. I set it aside to dry.

I used the Christmas Lights Die-namics to die cut the light strings, light bulb filament, and light bulb screw thread (don’t be impressed. I Googled anatomy of a light bulb to get the correct names) from a champagne glitter cardstock (something I bought at Michaels all of my gold glitter cardstock colors were too yellow for what I wanted). I then die cut 5 light bulbs from white cardstock.

Next, I ink blended the bulbs using C&9 Poppy, Grapefruit, and Cranberry. I then used glue to adhere the screw threads and filaments to the bulb. I then used Nuvo Crystal Glazed over the whole bulb for all five and went to bed.

Once everything was dry, I white heat embossed a sentiment in the center of the panel using the MFT Merry & Bright stamp set and then glued the strings to the panel. I used a combination of glue and thin foam circles to adhere the bulbs to the strings.

To finish the card, I embellished the card with Raspberry Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh. They’re actually red jewels. The name suggests they’d be pink.

This was a fun one. I want to do more. I really like how the Nuvo Crystal Glazes offers so much dimension and shine. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you on the next project!
