Happy release day! I almost screamed when I saw this Birdie Brown Hug It Out stamp set from the January release from My Favorite Things. So many adorable critters hugging it out and so many possibilities with this stamp set. I did some masking, but there are coordinating dies available for the set.
I knew I wanted to use several of the many stamps in this set, so I set out to make a 5″ x 7″ card. I cut a panel of Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock to 4.25″ x 6.25″. Next, I created mask for the 3 animal stamps I used and set aside. On the panel of cardstock, I stamped my scene and colored with Copic markers:
- Ears/Blush: R12
- Raccoon: W7, W5, W3, W1, W0
- Standing Bear: E23, E31, E30, E47, E44, 100
- Squirrel: E74, E71, E70, W3, W1
- Monkey: E29, E25, E23, E21, E51, E50
- Sitting Bear: E44, E43, E42, E41
- Fox: E99, E97, E95, E17, E51, E50
- Bunnies: C3, C2, C1, C0
- Owl: E44, E43, E42, E41, E97
- Dog: C8, C3, C1, C0
After coloring, I applied the masks to the critters and then took a long sheet of masking paper (~7″ wide) and drew a rough line with pencil and cut on that line so I could use the masks for the sky and ground.
For the ground, I ink blended with Distress Oxide in Crushed Olive and Forest Moss. I used Copics in YG97, YG95, and YG93 to draw individual blades of grass. I pulled off the mask and used the other mask to cover the grass and then ink blended the sky.
For the sky I used Distress Oxide in Tattered Rose. I lightly inked and then used the MFT Rolling Clouds stencil (from prior release) to add some faint clouds to the sky. Next, I pulled off all of the masks (aaaaahhhh) and then added a sentiment to the colored panel.
To finish, I adhered the colored panel to a card base made from Papertrey Ink cardstock in Sweet Blush and used a white gel pen for some highlights.
